AC
Line Reactors help keep your equipment running longer by absorbing
many of the power line disturbances, which otherwise damage or shut
down your inverters, variable speed controllers or other sensitive
equipment. Acme line reactors offer flexible design and easy
installation and a variety of applications such as paper machines,
process lines, press controls and drive systems.
Benefits and Uses of AC Line Reactors
When placed ahead of an AC inverter, the reactor absorbs many power
line disturbances, which could damage or shut down the inverter. Also,
the line reactor protects sensitive surrounding equipment from
transients associated with quick switching of IGBT devices in the
drive.
When applied as a load reactor and placed on the ouput of the AC
inverter drive, the drive provides two principal benefits. The load
reactor will slope the edges of PWM waveforms applied to long cables
and conductors, thereby reducing the dv/dt and stress due to uneven
voltage distribution. However, load reactors used alone are only
partially effective in reducing the peak voltage appearing at the
end of long lines. When these devices are placed on the output of
adjustable frequency drives, they protect the motor windings from the
damaging voltage spikes associated with the fast switching effects
of IGBT's and long lines and cables.
AC Line Rectors also provide cooler, quieter operation, reduction
of harmonic distortion and provide longer life for motors and solid
state components.
Acme’s three-phase AC Line Reactors can be used as an input filter for adjustable speed DC drives and as input or output filters for AC pulse width modulated variable frequency drives. They are bi-directional protective filtering devices and can be applied in a variety of configurations.
Input to Inverter/Drive
Acme AC Line Reactors protect the controller from power surges,
spikes and harmonic distortion. Your sensitive equipment is protected
from noise generated by the drive or inverter.
Output of Inverter/Drive
The AC Line Reactor makes motors run quieter and cooler when it
is placed between the inverter and motor. It also protects the
controller from short circuits and surges and reduces dv/dt.
Multiple Controllers on a Single Power Line
In order to provide adequate surge protection, prevent crosstalk
and reduce harmonic distortion, each drive or inverter on a single
power line requires its own AC Line Reactor.
Multiple Motors Controlled by a Single Drive
When you have a single drive that controls multiple motors, you
only need one AC Line Reactor between the controller and motors.
